The Rest of the Story...

Well, for starters, most people who know me, call me Angie. My dad has pretty much been the only person to call me Angela on a regular basis. I never really minded that. I think I've needed time to grow into my name, as it sounds so big and professional.
I've written, and rewritten, this bio piece about ten times. It just hasn't felt right. It's either been too stuffy, too long, or too dry. I've tried to make it look and sound like others I've researched, but in the end I decided that I'm not like any other. I'm me. I'm a little sassy, a little funny, rather philosophical, and insanely curious about everything! So here I am.
I was born into a loving family of very left-brained people. My dad was a Certified Public Accountant. My mom worked with my dad for years in his practice and continues to manage a very busy trucking company today. I have one younger sister who organizes an amazing family of six and juggles her work as a Physician Assistant with great ease. I, on the other hand, was the emotional, touchy, feeling child who was more interested in daydreams and the meaning of life. I'm not sure the other three always knew what to do with me.
Throughout my childhood, I learned very quickly that I could enter a room and feel the emotions of everyone around me. It was sometimes extremely overwhelming. I was prone to being quite tearful. It seemed to be the only outlet for all the energy I was taking on as my own. It was rather inconvenient and frustrating for me, not to mention I know it drove my parents nuts.
As I continued through childhood, I found myself just "knowing" things were going to happen, but couldn't explain why. These weren't earth-shattering premonitions, but I seemed to always have the ability to sense if things were about to change. I learned early on to trust my "gut" feeling about everything. It rarely steered me wrong.
As a young teenager, I experienced the first loss of someone I loved very much. My grandmother passed away from Leukemia when I was thirteen. This event sent me on a quest for information. I read books by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross on death and dying. I'd go to the public library (Keep in mind we had no Internet back then!) and researched anything I could find on the subject. I began to question life after death, as I always knew in my heart there just had to be more, even more than my religion had taught me. Oh, how right I was!
After high school I continued on a fairly typical path. I attended college, got married to an amazing man, and had two beautiful boys. I settled into family life and moved through my days as most people do, working and playing. Life was good.
If you've made it this far, bravo! This is where it gets exciting!
So how did I get HERE?
In the fall of 2001, I stumbled across a little show called Crossing Over with John Edward. Instantly, I became fascinated with the idea of connecting with the other side. I was mesmerized by the work John Edward did and knew at the very core of my being, that what I was witnessing was not only real, but that I was destined to do the work myself.
Over the next year, I read every book on Mediumship I could find. I read books by James Van Praagh, John Edward, and Edgar Cayce. I was like a sponge! I couldn't read fast enough. To make it even more interesting, I began having some unusual things happen to me. A piece of my deceased grandmother's jewelry seemed to magically appear. I could smell the perfume she used to wear and began dreaming about her constantly. I believe she was making sure I continued my search for answers!
In 2003, a dear friend of mine, completely out of the blue, asked me if I had ever heard of Reiki. Being on my quest for knowledge, I jumped right in with both feet. I learned all about the body's energy system, learned how to clear and balance chakras, and even mastered the use of the pendulum. It was an exciting time for me because I learned so much about myself.
I had spent plenty of time reading and soaking up knowledge and information, so it was now time to start applying what I had learned. In late 2003, while browsing the metaphysical section of the bookstore, a book literally fell off the shelf. I picked it up to find Divine Guidance by Dr. Doreen Virtue. I took it home and devoured it within hours. This book taught me all about my clairs and how to connect with guides and angels. That very same day I went to Doreen's website, found she was to be a speaker the next month at a wellness expo in Phoenix, then booked an airline ticket. I was off and running.
The rest, they say, is history. After seeing Doreen in person, I attended her Mediumship workshop in Laguna Beach, California a month later and received my first formal certification. A few months after that, I went to Hawaii and learned more with Doreen about the angels and how they work with us.
In time, I attended workshops on Mediumship with Rebecca Rosen, then John Holland. I then ventured to Advanced Mediumship and Platform training with Lisa Williams in California and Chicago.
My continued drive to hone my skills then took me to New Jersey and Janet Nohavec's Journey Within Church where I studied with British Mediums, Tony Stockwell and Mavis Pitilla. Most recently I traveled to the United Kingdom to study and experience Physical Mediumship, and went to Toronto to study with tutors from the Arthur Findlay College in Stansted, England. In addition, I continue my education by attending online classes with British Mediums, Colin Bates and Andy Byng.
I have been blessed to meet so many other wonderful Mediums from around the world and have made some great friends who are also practicing Mediums right here in my own backyard. I never miss an opportunity to be in the audience when a professional Medium comes to town. I love watching them work and make connections that change people's lives.
Can you tell I'm a bit passionate about this work?
Why tell you my life story?
Maybe you're just like me. You happened to be in the right place, at the right time, and your life took a wild turn into new territory. It happens all the time. It can be a crazy, thrilling, terrifying ride! What you need to remember is that everything we do in life is on purpose. Our soul may just give us a gentle nudge or a whack in the head with a 2x4 to put us back on the path we chose for this lifetime.
Remember to let your heart lead you. I promise it will never steer you wrong.
