The previous statement is probably eliciting one of two responses.... You are ready to hit the "delete" button, swearing under your breath about what a Pollyanna I am and that I need to get a life. Or, you're nodding in agreement thinking about what a terrific day you've had so far, with great anticipation as to what's ahead. Maybe you're somewhere in the middle. You got up this morning, had a good cup of coffee, all the while thinking what a great weekend you had and how difficult it is to get motivated to head back to work. We've all been there, but did you know you really have a great deal of control in just how your Monday takes shape? For most of us, as soon as our feet hit the floor our brains are off and running. Our daily "To Do" list pops in our head in addition to maybe the grocery list and the list of emails you know need to be returned as soon as possible. You step into the shower continuing this train of thought until you get frustrated after you find yourself not remembering whether you washed your hair before putting in the conditioner. That's always my sign that I have completely forgotten to be present. I'd like to challenge you to try a different approach to your Monday morning, or any morning you're feeling less than excited about the day ahead. Start the day with appreciation, my friend. It can start as you pull yourself out of bed and stagger into the bathroom. Instead of the usual inner dialog you may have about how nice it would be just to go back to bed instead of facing the day, how about you just stand there for a moment and feel a deep appreciation for another day on the planet? Instead of belittling your body about how you really need to lose those last ten pounds or how wrinkled you're becoming, look into your eyes and appreciate the vessel that has carried your spirit around every day since birth. I'd even challenge you to continue this dialog as you enter the shower. Think back lovingly to something about your weekend or the day before that made you smile. Relive the memory and feel the warm fuzziness all over again. By feeling the emotion of deep appreciation and joy as you start your day, you have just dialed your vibrational set point to a place where it is attracting other experiences, people, and opportunities that match. How great is that? What's even more amazing, is that you can check in throughout the day and redial that set point at any time. The way your day is going is always a direct match to your vibrational set point. Always. I challenge you to get up tomorrow morning and begin the day with sincere gratitude. Say it, feel it, and know it in your heart. What have you got to lose?
