I just couldn't resist! I mean, who doesn't LOVE Ferris Bueller, right?!
As humans we’re like hamsters on a wheel. We go, go, go, and then go some more often not paying any attention to what’s going on around us. We’re either fretting over what happened yesterday, or worrying about what might happen tomorrow. I have so many clients who have their lives on “hold” while they wait for everything to line up exactly as they wish so they can then declare that they are finally “happy”. They are waiting for the perfect job, a loving partner, or dropping that last ten pounds before they feel they can be content and in love with their life. They go through the motions each day, but rarely take time to stop and appreciate the wonder and beauty right in front of them. You've all heard me say this before, but I feel it bears repeating...We have a finite amount of time in this incarnation. We hop on the roller coaster of life and honestly have no idea when it’ll be our time to get off the ride. We’re all in the same boat. It doesn’t matter if you have been diagnosed with a terminal disease or you’re fresh out of college. Life has this crazy way of keeping us in suspense. So, if none of us know how long we’ll be here, why would any of us spend so much time fretting and waiting for the planets to align perfectly so that we can experience true happiness. It’s there for the taking each and every day. I don’t care if you have a horrible boss, or your car barely gets you to work. You saw another sunrise today. How amazing is that? I believe that in absolutely every situation we get to choose joy or suffering. Sometimes things happen in our lives that don’t feel good, and while I do believe we came into a physical body to experience everything this playground has to offer, I also believe that we get to choose how we label those experiences. Often there are lessons learned, or new opportunities spring forth from a crummy situation. I choose to look for the blessings in everything. Everything. The bottom line is do you want to spend your life always waiting to feel the joy you came here to experience? Or, are you ready to embrace the life you’re living and truly love it, just as it is, while eagerly anticipating what's to come? Danke Schoen! (Thank you very much for reading!) Yes! Another movie reference! :)-
